On Saturday 18th of June, Superbroadcast held an experimental musical event entitled ‘Intimate Conversation’. The event’s aim was to combine antique music with culture to unify individuals from all over the world and garner a deeper human connection with one another, sparking unique conversations and spotlighting different perspectives. The two executants of the evening, Faliq Auri and Idrus Rashid performed an entire set of bygone, folk and historical pieces that complimented the nature of the event and shifted the audience’s attention to critical matters in society today.

With a background in woodwind instruments and experience performing in several gigs and festivals around the world, Auri played the Uilleann pipes, flute, and saxophone to bestow a solemn and serene atmosphere throughout the studio. While Rashid primarily used a guitar during the evening, to amplify and support the musical pieces, Rashid’s most salient instrument was his voice. Rashid sang in a low and euphonious tone, and his passion and spiritual connection to each piece was felt stoutly by the audience. Together, the two performers fabricated a magical night, raising thought-provoking questions and ideologies through their musical pieces and cultivating an interactive and eye-opening conversation about our world today.

The wooden décor and vibrant paintings perfectly complimented the mellow and homely atmosphere that had been established throughout the studio and hearing the experiences and careers of others truly ignited a sense of togetherness within the community at Superbroadcast. When speaking to the other guests, they mentioned how they cannot wait to return to the studio and continue attending and participating in future events and performances, the whole experience couldn’t be more perfect.
